New swimuits have been added to the shop: an Anti-Aqua two piece bikini, Kingdom Hearts 3 Sora swim shorts, and a redesign of the Roxas Swim Shorts.

Aqua's outfit is notable with the criss-cross front. I wanted to do something different from another halter top, and found that adding adjustable shoulder straps works with the crossing front. The back ties for more adjustability. I wanted to do something different than bikini bottoms, and kept to Aqua's look with shorts and added more corseting to the sides and long side ties.

If one were to rearrange the letters from "Destiny Island", it would become "It's Disneyland".

Riku and Roxas inspired pants have been added to the shop!

After designing the Sora jeans, I wanted to do one for Roxas. His pants in-game reminded me of chaps worn by cowboys, I wanted to step away from that look and change it up a little.

Initial drafts of Riku's pants were very goth "Hot Topic" style; I drew in extra belts and giant pockets and extra metal glitz and glam. It was fun to draw, but a bit impractical for daily wear. :D I toned it down and kept smaller details for just enough edge and Riku-ness.

Did you know...?

In the first Kingdom Hearts games, Riku wore pants called "wading pants". These were generally used by folks who regularly walk in deeper waters (i.e. fisherman), implying Riku may also have done the same.

A new plaid dress with pockets inspired by Kairi's uniform dress is now available, in both blue and red. This second version uses a heavier cotton fabric, darker colors, a halter cut, more metal accents, and the most important change: a tie!

Initial drafts of the school uniform dress included a tie, but ultimately was left out of the final draft of the first version. Fans reached out saying that the tie was the best part of Kairi's outfit, and they were right! I went back to the old sketches and refined them to the one that included a neckwear, along with more metal details.

I opted to add an additional color option, red and black, for punk Kairi! KH3 had a lot of red and black, what if Kairi had that design as well? ;)

Did you know...?

Kairi's schoolmate and friend, Selphie, is well known from Final Fantasy VIII. Tetsuya Nomura drew her after drawing Squall, and intentionally drew her with impractical hair.

Tifa's blue dress from FFVII Remake has been added to the shop. Inspired by her Mature dress, it follows the overall look with a plunging neckline, black lace, and blue hue. Deviated from the formal look, this version is a casual take made from soft flowly fabric and designed for everyday wear.

A Meow Wow inspired mug and Shadow Heartless inspired mug have been added to the shop! Both feature raised 3D sculptured details front and back (no flat paint here!), made from ceramic, and are microwave and dishwasher safe.

I had a bit of reservations about adding the Heartless inspired mug after an official one was announced. I originally thought of the idea two months before and had a prototype made, and two weeks before receiving the prototype the official one was released. I was worried that folks might claim I copied the idea or show little interest in a fanart version, so I went onto social media for opinions.

The response was incredibly supportive! With the encouragement from such wonderful fans, the mug was added to the shop.

I made sure to add the option to make it microwavable and dishwasher safe. There's nothing wrong with the traditional route with heating a pot or kettle, but it's a nice convienence to be able to heat it quickly in a microwave.

Super Mario RPG Booster's Cake IRL

I made a real life Booster Cake from Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars! I wanted to see if I could recreate "Bundt" into an actual cake. The entire pastry is edible, except the candles. The base layers are red velvet and french vanilla with a white chocolate cream cheese frosting, and white chocolate decorative pieces.

If you'd like to try to make one too, I used:

• A 3-tiered cake pan
• 3 boxes of cake mix (one Red Velvet, two French Vanilla)

• 8oz Cream Cheese (2 packages)
• 10oz bag White Chocolate Melting Wafers

• White Chocolate Melting Wafers
• Silicone molds
• Candy Cane
• Waffle Cookie

Layer by layer, I made it this way:

Top. Pandan extract for the green color cake base. The eyes/Mouth were made from white chocolate mixed with pandan extract and set in a silicone mold. I didn't have red food coloring and covered a white chocolate piece with red cookie icing to make it red. The stars were made with yellow food coloring mixed with white chocolate and set in a cookie cutter placed on parchment paper. I oiled the cookie cutters just a bit to make it easier to remove.

Middle. Red Velvet for the cake base. The eyes were made from white chocolate, and also covered with red cookie icing.

Bottom. I mixed the Red Velvet with the French Vanilla for a lighter red cake base. The face was piped on using the white chocolate cream cheese mixed with black cocoa powder. The blue candy was made from white chocolate mixed with blue food coloring, and set in a cookie cutter placed on parchment paper (also lightly oiled for easier removal). The candy cane and waffle cookie was carefully inserted.

Frosting. I melted the white chocolate and mixed it with cream cheese with an electric hand mixer. To make it just slightly runny so it SLOWLY runs down the sides but keeps its shape, mix in about 4 - 6 tablespoons of water (or milk). Be sure to set aside a small amount for piping before adding the liquid. If you forget, add powdered sugar (one tablespoon at a time) to help thicken it again.

Top it with candles and you're set! Just make sure not to light them all at the same time. ;)

Marmoset pajamas have been added to the shop! In Futurama's episode "Fry and Leela's Big Fling", Amy Wong dons marmoset pajamas to avoid detection from the human-despising inhabitants of Simian 7. These pajamas were inspired by the one she wore, complete with a fluffy marmoset hood and furry tail!

Unlike most standard cosplay kigurumis, this oneside has a more contoured fit. The fabric is also not made from fleece, but from a very plush fabric for a luxurious super soft feel. It's machine washable and must be air dried only. The fur is synthetic and will melt and mat if placed in a dryer. The damage is irreversible, be sure to air dry only. A test machine-washed pajama was able to dry overnight.

Did you know...?

When Amy, Bender, and Zoidberg were running through the zoo, they were chased by thylacines, or Tasmanian tigers. In real life, Tasmanian tigers have been extinct since around the 1900s. In the Futurama special "Into the Wild Green Yonder", they were brought back from extinction at the end of the movie and the episode follows the continuity.

For the holiday season, pick up the new KH Christma Town Sweaters, available in original black and jolly red. Both have a button neck closure, crowns down the front, a brown "belt" around the waist, a Santa hat style hood with fur around the edge, and a puffy tuft of fur at the tip.

The fabric is thick and warm to keep you cozy during the winter season. Remember to machine wash and air dry ONLY, the synthetic fur will melt and mat in a dryer. The damage is irreversible, please remember to only air dry.

A soft and squishy pillow has been added to the shop! Inspired by Halloween Town Sora from Kingdom Hearts, the pillow draws inspiration from the pumpkin mask Sora wears. It's large enough to be used for sleeping or hugging or as a deterent against pajama-wearing heartlesses.

The fabric used is super soft! The eyes and mouth are also made from soft materials for a comfy feel, and the pillow is stuffed with fluffy polycotton fiber.

Did you know...?

It's actually possible to beat Kingdom Hearts 1 without visiting the Halloween Town world at all. However, who would want to skip one of the best worlds to go to? ;)

Instructions

I used a 9" carvable foam pumpkin:

1. Download the pumpkin mask pattern above, or use your own pattern. Open the picture, go to "Print" -> "Print...", select the Full Page option and uncheck the "Fit to Page". The image is fitted for a 9 inch carvable pumpkin, if you're using a different size feel free to resize the image as needed.

2. Cut out the eyes and smile from the paper image.

3. Tape the eyes and smile in position to create the face.

4. Using a thin knife or Xacto knife, trace the edge of the pattern onto the pumpkin carefully.

5. Following the traced edges, carefully carve the pumpkin. For the eyes, use the smallest knife/tool you have. I didn't have the proper tools and the left eye came right off, I ended up carving it separately then gluing it back on.

6. Check to see if you need to cut the smile wider to be able to fit a candle or tea light through. (I cut the smile wider on the left to fit a tea light). File the carved foam edges with a nail filer to get cleaner edges.

Finished KH Pumpkin!

Here's an easy dango hair tutorial with step-by-step photos if you need to tie your hair into dangos like Sailor Moon or Chun Li!

I came up with this tutorial when I needed to tie my hair for a Tifa Lockhart photoshoot. Most existing tutorials demonstrate how to tie dangos by teasing the hair to fluff it into a ball before tying it down. It can work, but this tutorial does not use hairspray or teasing. Instead we will be using bobby pins and bun nets, yielding a much cleaner, rounder bun seen in most video games and anime.

Will this work for layered hair?
Yes! My hair is very layered and shaggy and I was able to to tie it into neat dangos.  

What materials do I need? Where do I buy bun covers?
Hairbands, bobby pins, and small hair bun covers. I found bun covers at Daiso, they call them "chignon" nets but I think bun covers are the common name. If you don't have a local Daiso, search "hair bun cover" on Amazon.

You will need:

• 2 hairbands
• Bobby pins (at least 4)
• Hair bun cover or chignon net
• Hair bows (optional)

Step by step photos:

1. Part hair evenly to two sides.
2. Tie up one end into a side ponytail and secure with a hairband.

3. Use both hands, start twirling the ponytail forwards and keep twisting it into a ball. As the ponytail twists into a ball, wrap it around the base.

4. Use a bobby pin to secure the end (bumpy side of bobby pin against the head). Move across from the first bobby pin, feel where it feels most secure by holding down different parts of the bun, and insert a second one to secure the bun to the head. Make sure the bun is secured to to the head and not just holding the bun shape! Usually I find two bobby pins are enough to hold the bun in place, but use more if you feel the bun needs it.

5. Wrap the hair net over your fingers. Carefully enclose the hair net over the bun, and tuck in any stray hairs. Adjust the bun as needed. Add a bow for flair!

Bat tights inspired by Morrigan has been added to the shop. Unlike most Morrigan tights, these pantyhose are sheer/see-thru and stretch from toe-to-waist, with full large scattered bat coverage front and back. They come in black and purple.

Use it for a Morrigan cosplay, or as a casual Morrigan!

Machine wash test:

Sheer tights and pantyhose are usually hand washed due to its delicate nature. I decided to test if it would hold up in a machine wash, but please note, the safest way and the manufacturer's recommended method is to hand wash and air dry.

Machine Washing + Air Dry:

        Machine: Top loading washer.
        Temperature: Cold water.
        Cleanser: Regular Detergent (Tide).
        Drying: Air Dry.

Results: No shrinkage or warping, the bat printing was intact, and the stretchiness was normal. A laundry bag would be recommended to prevent it from snagging onto other garments. I air dried them as a dryer can damage the elasticity.

A dark Aqua dress has been added to the shop! I went through many revisions of this dress, I wanted to keep the feel of Aqua, but turn it dark and elegant. I opted for a gothy feel, then went through even more revisions for the skirt pattern. It took SO many drafts before I finally got it right for that dark swishy wavy look.

The dress is actually a romper style with shorts and assymetrical skirt overlay on top. Pockets were added to the shorts, and the chiffon layer adds a layer of security on the right side (the chiffon covers the pocket, you'd have to reach under the chiffon to reach the pocket). It's longer at the sides and shorter front and back, with extra waves in the front.

Aqua makes a cameo in Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix. In the Chamber of Repose, Aqua's keyblade and armor can be seen, and is visited by Xenmas who talks to it, addressing it as "friend".

New to the shop is a sweater inspired by Clive Rosfield of Final Fantasy XVI. The sweater is made from a lightweight knit and detailed after Clive's look, with suede "armor" at the shoulders and back.

I originally drafted a cloak style, then toned it down to a modern look.

The Invictus sword featured in the photos was a prop for the photoshoot. The sword is huge! It stands 5ft 7inch tall; the height was completely unexpected. I even loaded up the game to see if it were accurate. Clive appears to be at least 6ft in height, tall and hulking, and wields his swords one-handed. Despite his size and build, a 5ft 7inch sword still does seem too big compared to in-game. However the details of the sword are spot on and was expertly made. It was such a large sword that it actually snapped during the photoshoot, but it worked out in the end as we were able to use it more easily.

There's a FFX easter egg in FFXVI! In a prologue cutscene, Clive whistles for his mount, this whistle is the exact same one used by Yuna in FFX.

Squall pants are now available for pre-order! These pants were inspired by Squall's Kingdom Hearts Leon look.

It was a tossup between FFVIII Squall, Final Fantasy Dissidia Squall, or Kingdom Hearts Squall. I sketched different designs and did mashup variations, and ultimately went with KH Squall's look since it had a good balance of casual with just enough metal accents, and of course, zippers. :D 

His pants look leathery in the game, good for cosplay but not as a daily. I opted for regular jeans material for everyday wear, and to have it machine washable.

Did you know...?

Squall's birthday is on August 23rd, falling on the 8th month of the year, coinciding with the game being the 8th in the Final Fantasy series. It also makes his zodiac sign to be Leo, which is represented by a lion. That's not all! He also shares the same birthday as the late actor River Phoenix, whom Tetsuya Nomura confirmed in an interview was a heavy inspiration for creating Squall.

Squall also makes an appearance in the original Chocobo Racing as an unlockable character. Players must complete the game twice then beat Squall in a challenger race. In Chocobo GP, Squall (and Cloud) can simply be purchased with a premium pass.

Cosplay temporary tattoos inspired by Final Fantasy XVI have been added to the shop! These temporary tattoos are based on the ones branded on Clive Rosfield and Bearers to signify their abilities. Like in-game, these are LARGE and go from under the eyes to down the neck.

I took many screenshots to get the design accurate, and also took a few creative liberties to avoid a 1-to-1 copy.

They debuted at Anime Expo 2023! Many fans were ecstatic to see FFXVI merch since the game was released recently. Several fans had purchased and applied the tattoo during Anime Expo and were proud to stop by the booth to show me. One fan confirmed that it lasted two days for them (at the time) with gentle washing and sleeping on the other side. Another fan said they fell asleep on the tattoo side but it still stayed nearly fully intact.

Temporary tattoos usually last a few days, but being that it's on the face, I would estimate one to three days at the most for hygiene preference. Some folks need to be able to wash their face daily with soap or use products. I personally removed the tattoo at the end of each day so I could wash my face properly with soap after working all day.

Whether working out or planning a cosplay fitness plan or just battling dark entities, a Heartless sports top has you covered. The restock shipment has arrived! The details are the same as before with the mesh front and back, "keyhole" opening, and emblem in front.

The new version is made of a lighter material. The previous version was made from a very thick fabric: I wanted it to be durable, but I found it was trapping too much heat and sweat especially during sweltering summers. A sports top should be light and comfortable and allow for unrestricted movement, I opted for a lighter fabric this time.

The sports top was first invented in 1977, and was called a "jockbra". Sports tops did not exist for women at the time and one was fashioned by sewing two jock straps together, hence a "jockbra". Eventually it was renamed a "jogbra" and was purchased by Playtex in 1990. Further subsequent research by Enell Incorporated revolutionized the sports top with extra band supports and firm straps to minimize bust bounce. Modern sports tops now come in a variety of material and design to provide comfort and support for the active athlete and fitness fashionista.

•     Machine: Top loading washer.
•     Extra step: Turned Zack swim shorts inside out. I left the Axel one as is to test the printing.
•     Temperature: Cold water.
•     Cleanser: Regular Detergent (Tide).
•     Drying: Air Dry Flat.

During the wash, a cup from the Gerudo top slipped off, but it was easy to reinsert it. The printing on the Axel shorts was the same, tho I would turn it inside out in future washes to maintain its vibrance. The cups of the Aqua bikini were fine; a bra laundry bag may be helpful to keep its shape for multiple washes (like for regular bras). Mild detergent can be used instead.

After washing I laid them all flat to dry. I would not recommend hanging them to dry as it can stretch as it dries.

Results: No shrinkage, the fabric felt the same, the color was fine, the elasticity was normal, and no warping.

Machine washing can be possible, but extensive washings may have an effect on the swimsuits. Hand washing is still recommended as the primary washing method to preserve the quality and to extend the life of your swimsuit.

A swimsuit of Namine from Kingdom Hearts has been added to the shop. It was tricky adapting a simple (very simple!) white dress, and came up with a two piece design.

I originally thought of doing a one-piece, but I wanted to add a different type of skirt to the bottom. It became a two piece with sky blue bottoms with an assymetrical white skirt on top, giving it a flowly and swishy feel with the sky blue occasionally peeking out from underneath.

Swimming shorts based on Axel/Lea from Kingdom Hearts 3 has been added to the shop! When I first started designing swim wear, Axel was the most requested character. For this style I based it off his KH3 casual outfit with plaid and black, and added a bit of red to complement his red hair.

Instead of the nylon spandex material used in the Sora, Riku, and Roxas shorts that have stretch and a sleek slippery texture, the Axel shorts are made from lightweight polyester with no stretch and a smooth texture. With a more casual look and feel, they can worn as regular day shorts.

The adorable outfit of Gerudo Link from Breath of the Wild is now available in a bathing suit form! Like the outfit he uses to sneak into Gerudo Town, the swim suit comes with a lime green halter top, purple bottoms with red, green, and gold, and blue sleeves.

The sleeves are stretchy and adjustable and ties at the top and the wrists. Get creative! The drawstrings can be tied to the fingers like elegant fingerless gloves for style and for less shifting during swimming.

If you're heading to Costa Del Sol, pick up these swimming shorts based on Zack Fair from Crisis Core. Even on vacation you might run into Behemoths; stash supplies into the two velcro closure pockets in the back or the two deep side pockets. The flower design is professionally printed on with a yellow orange ombre color.

New to the shop are Crescent Moon Earrings inspired by the Crescent Moon Charm from Final Fantasy VII Remake. Worn by Tifa in her mature blue lace dress, the crescent earrings makes an appearance in both FFVII Remake and her original FF7 mansion dress.

The earrings are made from metal and meticulously follows the in-game details with the large crescent shape, recessed indents and raised bumps, and dangling chain. The back is hollowed out to keep the earrings lightweight. They come in pairs: the crescent opens up on the left on one side, the other side to the right.

There's much speculation about the Crecent Moon Charm's symbolism based on its description, game's dialogue, and appearance with the dresses. In real life, it makes for a dazzling piece to complete a cute outfit or dress (mission not required).

The Kingdom Hearts 2 Kairi School Uniform dress has been redesigned and re-opened for pre-orders!

The skirt was redone to lay more smoothly down the front and all around. The pleats are wider and the extra stitching was removed to let it flair more freely. Wear it year-round! During the spring and summer it can be worn as a standalone piece; during colder weather, pair it with a sweater and leggings.

Pre-orders were originally stopped due to material shortage. After discussing with the manufacturer, they were willing to reproduce the fabric, but only with a large order. I calculated  the least pre-orders needed, but it's still a high number: we'd need at least 30 pre-orders to make it happen. Help bring the Kairi school uniform dress into production!

Three new fashion designs have been added to the Kingdom Collection for pre-order: a dress based on Kingdom Hearts 2 Kairi School Uniform, a sweater based on Kingdom Hearts 3 Xion, and a hoodie based on Chirithy.

Plaid seems to be prominent palette in Kingdom Hearts, especially in KH3 where all the main characters have some type of coloration (Sora - Red/Black, Riku White/Black, Kairi - Black/Pink). I wanted to do a lighter palette and looked through their  outfits and saw the blue/white of Kairi's school uniform, and thought to make a dress from it.

Xion designs are fun to do since I can add a bit more of a goth look. Xion in general isn't moody (quite the opposite), but a punk look suits her well, probably from her dark hair, her KH3 outfit, and being in Organization XIII. I was going to design a variation of her KH3 dress, but seeing how her dress is already quite casual, I opted to do a sweater instead.

The Meow Wow hoodie was fun to design, and after @nipahcos suggested a Chirithy one, I went for it! I added lots of black stripes all over the hoodie, and decided to leaveout the back emblem to leave it more kitty-like. Like the Meow Wow, there's a squishy little tail in the back.

The Mercenary Coat is now up for pre-orders! Redesigned and different from the previous stye, this coat boasts more metal accents and MORE POCKETS! I renamed it to the Mercenary coat with all the extra utilitarian parts and pockets for gadgets and storage. The material is still a high quality heavy cotton with a polyster lining.

Machine Washing + Air Dry:

I tested washed the coat to see how it holds up being machine washed. Metal components can damage a washing machine, be sure to turn it inside out, then place it into a mesh laundry bag. I washed it as follows:

• Machine: Top loading washer.
• Extra step: Turned inside out, placed into mesh laundry bag.
• Temperature: Cold water.
• Cleanser: Mild Detergent.
• Drying: Air Dry.

After washing I hung it on a coat hanger and immediately wiped off all excess water from the metal parts before leaving it to dry. In my test it took overnight to fully dry. (It would take about one day to overnight depending on the current weather temperature).

Results: No shrinkage, the coat was intact, the fabric felt normal, the color was the same, the fur was still fluffy, and the metal pieces were fine.

Machine Washing + Machine Drying:

I test washed it a second time to check how it would hold up in a dryer. Do NOT machine dry the hood, the fur will melt and become matted, this is irreversible. Remove the hood before machine drying, the hood MUST be air dried.

• Machine: Top loading washer.
• Extra step: Turned inside out, placed into mesh laundry bag.
• Temperature: Cold water.
• Cleanser: Mild Detergent.
• Drying: Hood removed. Machine dried normal with one dryer sheet, removed promptly.

Since the coat is heavy and it was in mesh bag, I actually had to put it in the dryer again for a second run and let it hang dry for a bit after. I reattached the hood when it fully dried.

Results: The sleeves and chest shrunk by 0.5 inch, and the front and back length shrunk by 1 inch. Otherwise the coat was intact, the fabric felt normal, the color was the same, the fur was still fluffy from being air dried, and the metal pieces were fine.

I needed a Pooh book for a photoshoot and came up with a gold foiled version of one of the covers seen in game. It turned out well and thought to put together a tutorial for everyone to make their own real life Kingdom Hearts 100 Acre Wood Winnie The Pooh book. I used a hard bound journal, but any book, cover, or material can be used.

Artwork Note:
I sketched it out and inked it, but I could NOT vector it properly. T_T I scanned the original instead and the download link is below, it should printable to the size needed.

Materials:

• A journal, book, or book cover (I used a 7.5 inch x 10 inch hard bound faux leather journal)
• Foil quill pen (I used a fine tip; standard will work too)
• Gold foil transfer paper
• Tracing or tissue paper
• Artwork (download link)

Instructions:

1. Print out the artwork (download link above). On another sheet, print the "WINNIE THE POOH" lettering; depending on the size of the book you're using, you may want to print different font sizes on one sheet of paper to check the best size. For the font style, I used Cambria.

2. Before tracing, make sure the artwork and lettering size fits the book (I ended up using only one edge border to fit the journal I used). Trace the artwork onto tracing or tissue paper. Afterwards, carefully align and trace the "WINNIE THE POOH" lettering.

3. Carefully align the tracing paper on the journal to precisely where you'd like it. Tape it down ONLY ON THE BOTTOM.

4. Lift up the tracing paper and align the gold foil transfer paper underneath. Be sure the gold foil covers the artwork area completely. Tape it down securely.

5. Smooth the tracing paper back on top and double check the placement. Tape it in place.

6. Follow the foil quill pen's instructions and use the heated tip to trace onto the tracing paper and the gold into place. Go SLOWLY to completely transfer the foil.  

7. When done, don't lift it entirely off yet! Carefully remove the tape and peel up a little at a time to check for missed spots. If you find any spots, place the gold foil back down and trace over the spot again.

8. Carefully peel off the gold foil and tracing paper. If there's still missing spots, use the leftover gold foil: place it over the missing spots, heat trace just that area, and lift off the remaining foil.

9. It's finished!
